NAFs (نفس)
===========
Nafs (نَفْس) is an Arabic word occurring in the Quran, literally meaning "self", and has been translated as "psyche", "ego" or "soul".
In the Quran, the word is used in both the individualistic (verse 2:48) and collective sense (verse 4:1), indicating that although humanity is united in possessing the positive qualities of a nafs, they are individually responsible for exercising the agencies of the "free will" that it provides them.

There are three principal stages of nafs.
All three types of the soul are defined at different points in the Holy Quran in the Holy Qur'an:

After knowing all three places, it is
necessary to understand where man should start his reform, then it should not be difficult to understand why in the Quran the three places have a great deal of light if we If you want to understand it in some simple way, here it is.
1 ... self-building ( نفس عمارہ )
The self which causes man to fall into the grasp of God and which causes him to depart from the realm of religion and to be called a curse like the devil whose abode is only Allah and Hell created by Allah. His honor ... Losing intercession of the Holy Prophet ....
Islam emphasizes the importance of fighting the inciting nafs in Quran as well as in hadith. One tradition holds that Muhammad said after returning from a war, "We now return from the small struggle (Jihad Asghar) to the big struggle (Jihad Akbar)". His companions asked, "O prophet of God, what is the big struggle?" He replied, "The struggle against nafs."
And then those who fight against this immortality and defeat it by fighting the Self, they set a guard on the destination of success and then they make their journey towards the next destination, ie, the Nafs Lama. ..
2 ... Self-loam (نفس لوامہ)
This is the stage where "the conscience is awakened and the self accuses one for listening to one’s ego. One repents and asks for forgiveness."Here the nafs is inspired by your heart, sees the results of your actions, agrees with your brain, sees your weaknesses, and aspires to perfection.
It is the self which causes a person to enter Allah's heart with a sincere heart and in fulfillment of the laws of Allah, by adopting the Shari'a Muhammadi in the true sense and following Him and His Messenger in the mold of religion. He takes the shield and begins to spend his life in the shadow of Islam, in the love of Anwar, on the paths of Allah, the Messenger of God, and then on the path of Makkah, then by the grace of Allah and his hard work and mastery. With Atta, man moves to his next and final destination, which is the second, and he is Self satisfied.
3 ..Self satisfied .. (نفس مطمئنہ)
This is the highest place, which is the destination by which all humanity's requirements are fulfilled. Man is admitted to the place where the Lord is the Lord and the place of His presence at the moment of His Beloved. He is found where his mercy is governed by his wisdom, where the angels also see and honor the man, where the priests of the Qalandars and the whole of the saints are present, and they are also jealous of the man, thanking the Lord. He is also one of us on whom Allah's grace surrenders His grace and it enters into the eternal life. The curtains are lifted on this man so that he can see the rewards of the Lord's Creation very well. There is no veil left between the world and the Throne. That man is included in Allah's servants that we have O our servant has satisfied your soul and added to the righteous the righteous, O my servant, I am pleased with you ...
And they are the guardians of Allah and the poor.
This is the ideal stage of ego for Muslims. On this level one is firm in one’s faith and leaves bad manners behind. The soul becomes tranquil, at peace. At this stage, followers of Sufism have relieved themselves of all materialism and worldly problems and are satisfied with the will of God.
Sufism's conception of nafs
========================
========================
Much of the popular literature on nafs, however, is focused on the Sufi conceptions of the term. According to the Sufi philosophies, the nafs in its unrefined state is "the ego", which they consider to be the lowest dimension of a person's inward existence — his animal and Satanic nature.
The Sufis call them "stages" in the process of development, refinement and mastery of the nafs.
Nafs is an important concept in the Islamic tradition, especially within Sufism and the discipline of all sect.

Dervishes from the Jerrahi school of Sufism are encouraged to study a text describing these stages of nafs as a nested series of cities.
